Beautiful Mess

Last night Riley and I went to dinner at this little Italian restaurant in San Francisco. He had a pizza and I had eggplant pasta...yum! Before our dinner came the waiter brought the traditional bread, oil, and vinegar. After helping ourselves I looked down at our plates. "Look!" I said, "Our plates are a reflection of the differences between us. Your oil and vinegar is refined and neat, and mine...mine is a beautiful mess!" Mine was spread all over my plate with a few drops on the rim, whereas Riley's oil was in two neat circles with a small amount of vinegar right in the middle. Riley laughed saying, "That is the perfect description of you. That is what you should call your blog...A Beautiful Mess." Perhaps I will.

Happy New Year

So...in addition to being a perpetual planner, I am also a perpetual procrastinator. I plan and then procrastinate and plan then procrastinate and the cycle goes on and on. This is why I have not posted anything in a few months even though I was so sure that I would. C'est la vie! Today is another day and, in fact, another year! I made some New Years resolutions and I hope to make some positive progress in my life this year...but I hope I have fun doing it. One thing I really slacked off on last year was documenting my life. I looked back at my photos and I have barely any. This is in part because I was bogged down with school and work for a good majority of the year, but that is no excuse! This year I want to take more pictures and save up for a nice camera, and hopefully post on here for all to see. Here is one of my favorites from last year to start.

Hello.

I am a perpetual planner.

Some may call it procrastination, but I disagree.  I mean, maybe I am trying to avoid the present, but if it wasnt for my obsession with planning ahead I would have never finished college, wrote a thesis, or bought a dog. Of course, I always plan for way too much. Like today for instance, I woke up this morning convinced that I would clean the whole house, organize the garage, return all my emails,  go shopping for the week, and plan a bachelorette party. Well, I got about a quarter of it done. However, if I hadn't planned at all I wouldnt have anything done right now...right? Nevertheless, I tend to feel like I am constantly preparing for the future, the day when my dreams will become reality. Planning for the furture isnt necissarily a bad thing, but when you feel like life is kind of passing you by in the mean time, then something has to change. That is where this blog come in.

Instead of just planning, this year I am going to get out of my head and try new things, things I've been planning for years. This blog is an exploration of my life, my interests, my city, and my world. Stay tuned for my musings, discoveries, and reviews of what I find along the way. Coming soon: meeting my neighbors, pole dancing lessons, and hosting my first dinner party as a real adult!
